I have a question about clinical health psychology

Why would I need private clinical health psychology?

If you’re living with a medical condition and feel overwhelmed or frustrated, we can help. Our private clinical health psychology services offer you fast, easy access to our caring and compassionate Clinical Psychologist in comfortable and reassuring outpatient facilities.

What types of clinical health psychology services can I access?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can help you to cope with a wide range of medical conditions. They’ll help reduce distress so you’re able to function better and will improve your emotional wellbeing.

Our clinical health psychology services support the following medical conditions and disorders:

  • Difficulties in coping with unexplained physical symptoms
  • Chronic pain
  • Rheumatological conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia
  • Dermatological conditions, including psoriasis
  • Neurological conditions, including stroke, migraine and epilepsy
  • Gastroenterology conditions, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Clinical health psychology is used in combination with medication or other therapies and may be short-term or last longer, depending on your situation.

What happens during a clinical health psychology consultation?

You can book a confidential consultation, for up to 60 minutes, at a time to suit you.  You may be asked to complete some screening questionnaires to help with your assessment.

Our specialist will take the time to properly chat with you, one-to-one, about your symptoms and difficulties. From this individual assessment they’ll help you to identify emotional and behavioural factors that impact on your condition and agree a plan of action, including coping skills, to support you in achieving your personal goals and improve your quality of life.

What’s covered by our private clinical health psychology services?

You’ll have an initial 60-minute consultation with our private Clinical Psychologist. Following the assessment, you’ll be sent a report which can be shared with your GP and Consultant.

Please note: this service isn’t currently available to patients under the age of 18.

Our clinical health psychology service consultations, assessments and therapeutic support are available to everyone as a private, self-funded service.

  • 60-minute initial consultation £240
