I have a question about MonaLisa Touch®

Why would I have MonaLisa Touch® treatment?

Some menopausal or perimenopausal women and those who have undergone some cancer treatments can suffer from a lack of oestrogen, which can cause dryness and thinning of the vaginal tissues - known as vaginal atrophy.

MonaLisa Touch® can help you if:

  • you’re post-menopausal and would rather not take Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
  • you’ve tried HRT but found it didn’t resolve your vaginal dryness
  • you’ve had chemotherapy or pelvic radiation therapy for cancer
  • you’ve had hormonal treatment following breast cancer
  • you’ve tried other treatments with no success

Does MonaLisa Touch® help with bladder leakage?

MonaLisa Touch® is very effective as treating urinary incontinence by stimulating blood flow to the vaginal tissue. This leads to thicker vaginal tissue, which can better support the urinary tract, reducing incontinence.

How can I arrange a MonaLisa Touch® course of treatment?

To find out how MonaLisa Touch® can help you to reclaim your quality of life, book your consultation today or call our Private Patient Team on 01580 363158 for a confidential chat.

How do I prepare for MonaLisa Touch®?

In preparation, you should avoid any intravaginal creams or lubricants as well as intercourse 24-48 hours before treatment. You can eat and drink normally.

On the morning of your procedure, you should shower or bathe so that the area to be treated is clean and without any trace of cream, lotion or perfume. If possible, wax, clip or trim long pubic hair. You might find it’s more comfortable to dress in loose fitting cotton underwear and clothes.

What happens during my MonaLisa Touch® treatment?

The course of three treatments is performed in the ACU of our CQC rated 'Outstanding' hospital, by a Consultant Gynaecologist. A small probe, placed carefully in the vagina, delivers low-power laser energy to the tissue of your vaginal wall, stimulating the production of collagen and new blood vessels and restoring the proper balance to the mucous membrane. The procedure only takes a few minutes, so you'll be able to go home the same day.

Does MonaLisa Touch® tighten?

MonaLisa Touch® uses a low powered laser  to stimulate the production of new collagen, rehydrating and rejuvenating the membrane lining of your vaginal wall. It's not designed to tighten the vagina where the diameter of the vagina has increased following birth or due to a natural ageing process, for example.

What should I expect after MonaLisa Touch® treatment?

You might feel some discomfort for a few days after your treatment, but you should be able to get back to your normal routine after a day or so.

How long does MonaLisa Touch® last?

Treatment consists of three sessions, approximately six weeks apart. The effects of MonaLisa Touch® last for at least 12 months so, to maintain the results, you’ll need to book a top-up session one to two years after your treatment.
