We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated Staff Nurse to join our Eye Unit on a 14-month fixed-term contract. * The salary for a Newly Qualified Staff Nurse will be £28,407 for the first 12 months.

About the role
- Deliver evidence-based pre- and post-operative care.
- Assist in ophthalmic theatre procedures including cataract and oculoplastic surgery.
- Perform ophthalmic investigations such as biometry, OCT, and topography.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic systems.
- Supervise junior staff and act as a mentor.
- Ensure safe custody of medications and maintain care areas.
- Contribute to audits and departmental improvement initiatives.
Skills and experience required
- First level Registered Nurse
- Ophthalmic Experience desirable though not essential.
- Willingness to undertake Ophthalmic training.
- To assist in Ophthalmic theatre procedures as scrub nurse or recovery nurse.
- ILS training or willingness to undertake training
- Excellent organisational planning and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to build and support team working in a positive and challenging culture
- Strong patient-centred approach
- Sound computer skills e.g. MS Office Suite and web-based reporting systems
- Foster a culture of professionalism and a positive working team environment
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity and ethics in the workplace
