Hospital worker prepares for the Great North Run

A Learning and Development Co-ordinator at Benenden Hospital is in training to do the Great North Run, on Sunday 11 September.

The Great North Run is a half marathon which is broadcast live on BBC1 each year. It takes place in Newcastle, Gateshead and South Shields.

Karie will be running for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and aims to raise a minimum of £300.

She said: “Since having children, my friend and I decided to set ourselves a challenge each year. Last year we did the Mud Run and this year she suggested the Great North Run. I used to run regularly, 10k was my comfortable distance. The Great North Run is a half marathon, 13.1 miles, more than double my old distance!

“We hope that on the day the crowd and excitement will carry us along to the finish.”

Karie chose the charity as she used to work in mainstream education supporting deaf children.
