Hospital supports charity bike ride

Benenden Hospital has supported a sponsored cycle ride which saw hundreds of people take part – raising money for Action Medical Research.

The annual ride starts and finishes at Tonbridge Castle. Cyclists can choose a 33, 70 or 101 mile route.

One participant was Benenden Hospital’s Medical Director John Giles, taking part for the fourth time and completing the 70 mile route in under six hours.

He said: “It was a wonderfully sunny day through parts of the idyllic Kent countryside and the High Weald. I hope to be back again next year!

“I gave this event my support once again as Action Medical Research run a number of very well organised fund raising events throughout the year raising money to support research into a range of conditions which affect babies and young children.”

A team from the Hospital ran a food and drink stop along the route, at Headcorn. Benenden Hospital also supported the event by putting Benenden branded merchandise into the goodie bags given to cyclists. The items included sports drinking bottles, pens and lip balms. Cyclists were offered a 10% discount off physiotherapy services too.
