Innovation, leadership and excellence were all recognised at Benenden Hospital’s annual staff awards.
The awards are called the Best of Benenden and took place at Dale Hill Hotel and Golf Club in Ticehurst, East Sussex. They were attended by around 150 guests.
This year’s winners were:
- Clinical Excellence – Infection Control Link Practitioners
- Innovation of the Year – Sally Covell and Hayley McDonough
- Leading and Inspiring Others – Audrey Hennessy
- Support Services Excellence – Housekeeping
Organiser Clare Ounsworth, a Business Analyst at the Hospital, said: “It was a fantastic evening, the atmosphere of support and fun was amazing! I feel immensely proud to have been a part of this event which celebrates all that is great about Benenden Hospital.”
The Infection Control Practitioners act as advocates to ensure the Hospital is clean and safe and to maintain the Hospital’s exceptional infection control rates. The judges heard how all members of the team are focussed, enthusiastic and committed.
Sally Covell and Hayley McDonough, from the Theatres department, brought a new and improved management of human waste system to the Hospital. The three new Stryker Neptune Waste Management Suction Units were introduced after the pair wrote a business case and produced a video comparing the old and the proposed systems, in a bid to benefit both patients and staff.
Audrey Hennessy works as a Healthcare Support Worker on the Hospital’s new Bensan ward. Staff at the awards evening heard how she works hard and always with great enthusiasm.
The audience at the Best of Benenden awards heard how the Housekeeping teams, the day and night staff, are cheerful, passionate and helpful. They have recently faced some challenging times, with the Hospital’s multi-million pound redevelopment, with muddy boots, floods and bad weather.
The awards are now in their second year.
