Benenden Hospital consultant leads international event

A Cardiologist from Benenden Hospital recently led an international educational event for consultants and other healthcare professionals working in his field.

Dr Robert Gerber was the moderator at a roundtable discussion which was held as part of a British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (BCIS) national conference in London. The discussion was filmed by Radcliffe Cardiology who promote lifelong learning for cardiovascular professionals.

Dr Gerber, who also works at the Conquest Hospital in Hastings and Eastbourne District General Hospital, was joined by an expert group of Interventional Cardiologists who included Prof Adrian Banning(BCIS President), from the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, Dr Miles Behan from the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Prof David Hildick-Smith, from the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The educational discussion was intended for an international audience, specifically interventional cardiologists and cardiologists. However, other healthcare professionals involved in the care of coronary artery disease (CAD) patients would also find the discussion useful.

Discussions, which focused on bifurcations, included stent types and strategy, specific lesions and intracoronary imaging, clinical trials and a look at an angiogram from one of Dr Gerber’s patients so the experts could talk about how they would manage a particular scenario.

At the event Dr Gerber also gave a keynote presentation on bifurcation stenting.

The Bifurcations roundtable discussion can be seen on the Radcliffe Cardiology website.
