Vascular surgeon meets Justin Bieber!

Benenden Hospital’s vascular surgeon Eddie Chaloner

Benenden Hospital’s vascular surgeon Mr Eddie Chaloner got the chance to high five Justin Bieber when the Canadian pop star paid a surprise visit to an NHS choir who beat him to the Christmas number one.

In 2012, Mr Chaloner appeared in the TV programme The Choir: Sing While You Work, on BBC2. As a member of The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir. He also sang in "A Bridge Over You," a charity single which was the Christmas number one in December 2015, raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and other local healthcare charities. The choir has performed at Glastonbury, the FA Cup Final and the Royal Albert Hall.

About Mr Eddie Chaloner

As well as working for the NHS in London, Mr Chaloner leads the varicose vein treatment team at Benenden Hospital. He qualified from Oxford University in 1989. After surgical training in London and South Africa, he was appointed as Consultant Vascular Surgeon at University College Hospital, London in 2002, where he was the first surgeon in London and the South East to use the EVLT technique for varicose vein surgery.
