Knee ligaments and Revision Hip Replacements
Philip Housden trained in Cardiff, South Wales, with junior doctor placements in South Wales, Nottingham and Canterbury prior to pursuing orthopaedic registrar training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London and other hospitals in the London area. Philip subsequently went on to do Senior Registrar training in South Wales and undertook Fellowships in hip replacement surgery in Exeter as well as knee revision hip surgery in Melbourne, Australia.
Appointed as an Orthopaedic Consultant in East Kent in 1995, initially based in Canterbury, where he has worked as a general orthopaedic surgeon with an interest in lower limb problems ever since.
He is a programme director for the Kent, Surry and Sussex orthopaedic training programme. He has previously been Clinical Director for orthopaedics for the East Kent NHS Trust and remains with an active interest in the management of orthopaedic services and, specifically, the training of junior doctors.
Philip is married with two children and his interests include skiing, sailing and windsurfing. Philip lives in a village close to Canterbury.
