FAQs

What is liposuction? +

Liposuction removes unwanted fat through minimally invasive techniques, ensuring minimal scarring. Our skilled team conducts the procedure with precision and care.

Is liposuction safe? +

Like all surgical procedures, there are potential risks. Our experienced Consultants will discuss these risks during your consultation and take measures to minimise them.

How does liposuction work? +

Depending on the area being treated, the surgery, lasting between one and three hours, involves small incisions and the use of a liposuction cannula. Your Consultant ensures minimal scarring, infiltrating the area with saline, local anaesthetic, and adrenaline to enhance the process.

Does liposuction hurt? +

Following surgery, mild soreness is normal, alleviated by basic painkillers.

Wearing a compression garment for six weeks aids in shaping and reducing swelling.

Depending on your recovery, you may return home the same day or stay overnight.

You'll have a wound check appointment one to two weeks post-op and further follow ups with your Consultant

Does liposuction leave scars? +

Yes, liposuction involves small incisions, which will result in minor scarring.

These scars typically fade over time and become less noticeable.

Your Surgeon will offer personalised aftercare guidance to support optimal healing and minimise their appearance.

Does liposuction get rid of cellulite? +

Liposuction is effective at removing stubborn fat deposits, but it does not treat cellulite.

Cellulite is caused by structural changes in the connective tissue beneath the skin, which liposuction does not address.

Does fat come back after liposuction? +

Liposuction removes fat cells, and while they don't grow back, the remaining cells can expand.

Our plastic and cosmetic team ensures you have the guidance needed for long-term success in maintaining your desired results.

How much fat can liposuction take off? +

Liposuction can safely remove up to approximately five litres of fat, equivalent to around 11 pounds.

However, the exact amount varies based on individual factors such as body type, treatment area and overall health.

Your Surgeon will provide personalised guidance during your consultation to ensure the procedure is both safe and effective.

Is liposuction better than a tummy tuck? +

This decision depends on your individual goals and body concerns.

During your consultation, our Surgeon will assess your needs and provide tailored recommendations to help you achieve the best possible outcome.

How we reduce risks
  1. Pre-operative assessment

Prior to your surgery, you’ll have an appointment with a specialist nurse who will conduct a thorough review of your medical, surgical, and social history in order to ascertain how suitable, fit and well you are for surgery. They will conduct important investigative tests to ensure that any risks surrounding surgery are well managed.

  2. Dedicated decontamination services

Our on-site Decontamination Services Department ensures all reusable medical devices are thoroughly and safely decontaminated to meet the highest standards of hygiene.
  3. Infection prevention control

To safeguard everyone in our environment, we follow rigorous infection prevention and control protocols. Patients, visitors, and staff are asked to contact us before coming to the hospital if they are experiencing any symptoms of or have an active infection so that we can advise them on whether they should still attend or visit someone who may be a patient.
