Hospital fair raises over £700 for Alzheimer's Research

A busy charity fair bake sale stand

Published on 05 March 2026

The hospital held a successful charity Books, Bakes ’n’ Crafts Fair on Thursday 5 March.

The fair included a book stall for World Book Day run by Sandeep Wildman (Pharmacy), a cake sale for Alzheimer's Research UK, run by Hospital Director Claire Harley and the Catering team, and craft stalls run by Juliet Swarbrick (Theatres) and Sandra Haymes (Decon Services)

Staff, patients and other visitors flocked to the stalls, browsing a fantastic collection of Usborne books, delicious baked goods, handmade tote and make-up bags, dolls, crocheted accessories, beaded bracelets and pendants.

A portion of sales from the book and craft stalls was donated to the hospital's charity of the year, The Big Wrap, and all cake stall proceeds went to Alzheimer’s Research UK.

An amazing £717 was raised for Alzheimer's Research in just three hours! Together we made a difference, raising vital funds to help fight a devastating illness.
