We are currently recruiting for a registered nurse to join our fantastic team in our Outpatients department on a six month, fixed term contract. You will be required to plan and implement high standards of clinical care including delivering health promotion and discharge advice for patients, following hospital guidelines and protocols, and promote a patient-focused approach to care.
The Outpatient department has 31 rooms covering many specialities. The registered nurse role available is both interesting and varied within a large team offering plenty of support. The clinics are open Monday to Saturday offering a busy environment therefore the candidate will need to have good organisation and communication skills. Our patient centred approach ensures a positive and safe experience which is key when triaging patients coming out of clinic.
Procedures are carried out in the department such as dermatology minor surgery, patch tests, insertion of coils, venepuncture, ECG's etc.
We have specialists’ nurses working within Outpatients department that we work closely with :
Pre-Assessment team that assesses the patients’ medical, social and physical ability for fitness to undertake surgery linking in with a multi-disciplinary team.
Continence care - The gynaecology and urology clinics are supported by specialist nurses who provide pre and post operative care and offer support to patients. They carry out diagnostic tests such as urodynamics, flow rates, bladder scans etc..
* The salary for a Newly Qualified Staff Nurse will be £28,407 FTE for their first 12 months post qualified.

About the role
- Ensure patient care areas are safe, fit for purpose and effectively maintained
- Ensure patient information data is correctly recorded in the appropriate IT systems
- Maintain the safe custody of medications
- Give general supervision to junior members of the team, including providing clinical supervision/act as a mentor, being accountable for Outpatients in the absence of the Sister or Service Manager - Outpatients
Skills and experience required
- First level Registered Nurse preferably with some Outpatient experience
- ILS training or willingness to undertake training
- Basic phlebotomy and ECG monitoring experience or willingness to undertake trainin
- Excellent organisational planning and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to build and support team working in a positive and challenging culture
- Strong patient-centred approach
- Sound computer skills e.g. MS Office Suite and web-based reporting systems
- Foster a culture of professionalism and a positive working team environment
- Demonstrate honesty, integrity and ethics in the workplace Methodical in approach and pays attention to detail
- Flexible and adaptable
- Work well in a pressurised environment
