We are currently recruiting for a Flexi bank decontamination services technician to join this busy department. At Benenden Hospital we are one of a few private hospitals with a decontamination service on site. The unit provides an essential service, working closely with the clinical areas to decontaminate and reprocess surgical instruments ready for use in theatres and procedure rooms.
Knowledge and experience in the decontamination of reusable medical devices is desirable but training can be provided for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of the workplace and will be able to work in a timely manner while achieving high levels of accuracy.

About the role
The interesting role of the DS technician supports clinical activity and crucially patient safety by providing a controlled decontamination service for reusable medical devices. The role involves reprocessing reusable surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes and includes manual cleaning, automated wash-disinfection, inspection, functionality testing, assembly, packing, sterilisation, and dispatch back to theatres and procedure rooms. As a Flexi-bank Decontamination Services Technician you will be able to work flexibly and choose shifts that are offered to you.
Skills and experience required
- Experience in decontamination of reusable medical devices -Desirable
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 3/Technical Certificate in Decontamination or willingness to undertake.
- IT literate (e.g. Microsoft Office).
- High attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Flexible, professional, and team-oriented approach.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient safety.
