Being a part of the Flexi-Bank staff team at Benenden Hospital can offer you the perfect work/life balance by giving you the opportunity to work flexibly during the week.

Our Flexi-Bank staff are vital in supporting us to maintain high standards of patient safety and care. At our hospital we hire the most appropriately skilled staff to work in both our clinical and non-clinical areas.

Whilst we're unable to guarantee you regular hours, we do have the need to cover our regular staff members across all areas of the hospital during times when we experience increased demands or staff shortages.

Where will I work?

As part of our Flexi-Bank team, you could also be offered work in several roles within Support Services, which you can then accept or decline as you prefer. Many of our volunteers at Benenden Hospital have additionally progressed to fill Flexi-Bank roles too.

Please note that under a Flexi-Bank contract the hospital is not obliged to offer work and will only offer hours when they are available. Therefore, Flexi-Bank staff will not be given regular fixed hours or fixed days.

You will be working as a valued member of our Outpatient team. Planning and implementing high standards of care, delivering health promotion discharge advice for patients.

We offer on-site training for a range of clinical skills and also support nursing associate training and student placements.

As a Flexi-Bank Nurse, you would be able to work in any of these areas, or if you prefer, you can just work in the department of your choice.

To be considered for this role it is essential that have the following qualifications and skills:

  • First level Registered Nurse
  • Significant post registration experience
  • ILS training
  • Basic phlebotomy
  • Excellent organisational planning and problem solving skills
  • Strong patient-centred approach
  • Demonstrate honesty, integrity and ethics at work

It is also desirable that you are able to demonstrate the following:

  • Strong Computer skills, including MS Office

As our Flexi Bank Physiotherapist, you will conduct holistic and thorough assessments for our outpatients by creating individualized, clinically reasoned and evidence-based treatment programmes.  You will also contribute and facilitate excellent levels of physiotherapy care to our orthopedic inpatients, providing supportive rehabilitation for prompt discharge and successful home recovery.

You will be an active member of the department and will support the department lead in the development implementation of audits, in-service training/peer reviews, guidelines, and service provision.

 The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Relevant experience at junior level within the MSK outpatient setting
  • Basic awareness of respiratory principles and techniques, including ACBT.

We have an opportunity for a registered Operating Department Practitioner to work on our Flexi-bank.

The Operating Department Practitioner take responsibility for the delivery of safe quality perioperative care of our patients. 

At Benenden we’re proud of our Outstanding CQC status and we want you to be too.  You will be a valued member of the team, where we will encourage and support you to develop new skills and knowledge in a range of clinical skills, within multiple specialisms - anaesthetic, scrub, or recovery practitioner, through our on-site training. 

As a Flexi-bank Theatre Practitioner you will undertake mandatory surgical checks prior to the start of the procedure, during and pre-wound closure.   Working as part of a team, you will support the theatre lead in the running of theatre lists daily. 

You will promote best evidence-based practice as you act as the patient’s advocate, always maintaining their dignity, and ensure patient care areas are safe, fit for purpose and effectively maintained.

Flexible working

As a Flexibank Housekeeper you will be able to work flexibly and choose shifts that are offered to you. You will implement high standards of housekeeping and customer service for patient visitors, and other hospital procedures.

 The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the housekeeping team and other departments in the hospital to ensure that patient areas are available whilst being sensitive to patient’s needs. They will adhere to all infection control policies and procedures and comply with COSHH regulations.

 Further duties will include providing all departments with sufficient linen, monitor returns and keep up to date records and the provision of staff uniforms which will include taking employee measurements, checking stock, ordering, and keeping up to date records.

Flexi-bank Decontamination Services technician- Reference 1825

£9.90 ph

Flexible working

As a Flexibank DS technician you will be able to work flexibly and choose shifts that are offered to you.

 At Benenden Hospital we are one of a few private hospitals with a decontamination service on site.  The unit provides an essential service, working closely with the clinical areas to decontaminate and reprocess surgical instruments ready for use in theatres and procedure rooms. 

 The interesting role of the DS technician supports clinical activity and crucially patient safety by providing a controlled decontamination service for reusable medical devices. The role involves reprocessing reusable surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes and includes manual cleaning, automated wash-disinfection, inspection, functionality testing, assembly, packing, sterilisation, and despatch back to theatres and procedure rooms.

 Knowledge and experience in the decontamination of reusable medical devices is desirable but training can be provided for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of the workplace and will be able to work in a timely manner while achieving high levels of accuracy.
