I graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Malta Medical School in 1989 and obtained my general ophthalmology training in the United Kingdom.
I completed my sub speciality training with a fellowship in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and a fellowship in medical retina at King's College Hospital in London.
In addition to the services I provide at Benenden Hospital, I work with the NHS as an Ophthalmic Consultant Surgeon at the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
Training and education are very important to me and I am a clinical supervisor for ophthalmology trainees and an assessor for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
My clinical interests include small incision cataract surgery including complex surgery, plus medical retina conditions, intravitreal injection treatments for macular generation, vascular occlusions and diabetic maculopathy, paediatric and adult squints, ectropion botox and laser treatments - YAG Laser Capsulotomy, Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) for glaucoma and retinal laser.
