The final took place at Pfizer in Sandwich and the overall winner was the Simon Langton School for Girls in Canterbury with a project about the effects of biodiversity on wellbeing and health. Pupils who worked on the project were presented with a cheque for £500.

Each sponsor also picked their favourite project and Benenden Hospital's Medical Director and Bright Spark judge John Giles chose the Simon Langton School for Boys with a project researching Multiple Sclerosis. Pupils who worked on the project are to be invited to the Hospital for a day in September as many sponsors offered an experience based prize to students.

Other projects included a water filter which could be used in developing countries, a project to protect trees, research to see if classical music helped memory and a project whereby first aid packages could be delivered via drones.

The competition, for school and college pupils, aims to encourage future scientists, innovators and inventors. It is run by the KM Charity Team. Find out more at: https://vimeo.com/224874000
