About Mr Andrew Smith
I graduated in medicine from Kings College London in 1993, with an additional Bsc in Anatomy. I completed my basic surgical training in London, Bristol and the Southeast which included neurosurgery, vascular and plastic surgery. My Orthopaedic training was completed in the Southeast Thames training rotation before I undertook fellowship training at the Kleinert Kutz, Hand Care Centre – an Institute of hand and microsurgery in Louisville Kentucky, USA.
I was appointed as a Consultant in East Kent in 2005. I have a dedicated hand and wrist practice and maintain a general trauma commitment with a particular interest in wrist fractures. I have a strong commitment to training the next generation of Surgeons. As well as providing regional teaching, I am also faculty for the AO hand and wrist group and a member of the editorial board for the Journal of and Surgery.
My clinical interests include: carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, dupuytrens disease, treatment of hand and wrist arthritis and fractures of the hand and wrist.
