Gastroscopy in Kent

Gastroscopy

Used when your food pipe (oesophagus), stomach, or top part of the small intestine need to be looked at. This involves putting the endoscope camera down the throat.

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy can check what's causing your bowel symptoms by looking at the lining of your rectum and colon using a long, flexible tube called a colonoscope.

Flexible sigmoidoscopy

Flexible sigmoidoscopy

A procedure to look inside the lower part of the large intestine using a sigmoidoscope; a long, thin flexible tube with a light and camera at the end.

About Dr Maiden

I trained at University College and Middlesex School of Medicine, London, gaining a BSc in Anatomy and Basic Medical Sciences before graduating as a doctor in 1993.

Completing my general medical training in Poole, Dorset, I returned to London and South East Thames to complete my specialist training at the Kent & Sussex, Guy's & St Thomas' and King's College Hospitals.

In addition to my work at Benenden Hospital, I am the Chief of Medicine and Emergency Care and a senior consultant in the Department of Gastroenterology at Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and an accredited colonoscopist on the National Bowel Cancer Screen Programme.

I am the lead for the Gastroenterology service at Benenden Hospital and I offer a patient-centred approach to investigation and management of abdominal symptoms.
