Judith chose breast reduction surgery at Benenden Hospital after attending one of our webinars. Here, she shares her experience of the care she received and the difference the procedure has made to her confidence and everyday life.
Why did you choose Benenden Hospital for your breast reduction?
My breasts were rather large, and there isn’t a good selection of bras for a person of the size I was.
I attended a Benenden Hospital webinar and at the end they offered a half-price consultation which I decided to take up, and I met Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon, Simon Mackey and Senior Staff Nurse in Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, Lexie.
I’ve been a Benenden Health member for many years and my family have been to Benenden Hospital before. They’ve always given excellent care and attention, and I have full confidence in them.
How was the care you received?
The hospital is very welcoming and professional looking. It’s very hygienic, everything’s so clean, and everybody’s friendly and attentive. The team are there for you if you need any help or care.
On the day, everybody came in and checked up on me. Mr Mackey came to see me just before the surgery and marked where the incisions were going to be made.
The anaesthetist also came to visit me and just checked that I was okay and told me what he was going to do. Everything went really well.
Afterwards, I had weekly visits with Lexie who would look at my dressings, change them, and after a couple of weeks we did it ourselves at home. She was very attentive and looked after me really well.
There have been massive improvements along with my weight loss. I’m not buying baggy clothes; I can wear whatever I like now. It’s wonderful!
What advice would you give to anyone considering Benenden Hospital?
I would highly recommend Benenden Hospital. They’re absolutely fabulous and it’s one of the best things that I’ve done. My advice is get it done - don’t think about it, do it!
