Why did you decide to get excess skin removal surgery?
“Having lost over 12 stone due to a mini gastric bypass I had a new lease of life, I felt so much healthier without that weight."
How was your excess skin impacting your everyday life?
"A big consequence of the weight loss and that was the excess skin I was left with, particularly on my upper arms and abdomen. I felt very self-conscious of it and in the hot weather felt quite uncomfortable with soreness and itching.”

What happened during your first and second consultations?
“I met with Mr Simon Mackey and initially discussed my thoughts and reasons for surgery; I was treated with respect and understanding. I was examined and possible surgery options were discussed tailored to my body and my needs and wants. The second meeting was to check, having had time to think about it, that I still wanted to proceed which I did.”
How did you feel on the day of your surgery?
“I was excited on the day of surgery as I was keen to get on with the surgery and carry on with the rest of my life without carrying the excess skin around. Of course, there was a bit of nervousness as I was about to undergo major surgery, which is understandable. Mr Mackey saw me before to mark me up for the surgery and reassure me.”
How were you supported during your recovery?
“Lexie was a wonderful caring support prior to the surgery and continued to be amazing after. I had a number of visits with her, and I was also able to ask for advice via email and phone between appointments. I couldn't have asked for better support than she provided.”
What improvements has your surgery made to your life?
“Post surgery I have so much more confidence and happiness with my body. I love clothes now and wear all sorts of clothes I would never wear before. Physically I am so much more comfortable without the excess skin. It has been transformative both physically and mentally.”
