About the role
As an Evening Housekeeping Coordinator, you will play a key supervisory role, providing visible leadership to the housekeeping team during evening shifts. You will oversee operations, ensure high standards of cleanliness, and support the smooth running of services in both clinical and non‑clinical areas.
- Provide effective leadership, guidance, and hands‑on support to the housekeeping team
- Prioritise and allocate tasks based on hospital needs, patient flow, and urgent situations
- Monitor cleanliness across all areas, promptly reporting and addressing any concerns
- Supervise and coordinate daily housekeeping duties in line with infection control standards
- Conduct regular audits to monitor quality and follow up on corrective actions
- Ensure all equipment, materials, and consumables are available, safe, and well‑maintained
- Collaborate with the Housekeeping Manager and Coordinator to ensure effective service delivery
- Support team development through training, probation reviews, and one‑to‑one meetings
- Manage sickness and absence processes up to stage 1
- Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and other departments
- Foster a positive, respectful, and team‑focused working culture
Skills and experience required
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Proven housekeeping experience within a healthcare environment
- Essential supervisory or team leadership experience
- The ability to work independently and make informed decisions
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise under pressure
- Excellent communication skills with a tactful and diplomatic approach
- Strong written and IT skills (including MS Office)
- A customer‑focused mindset with a commitment to high standards
- A methodical approach and keen attention to detail
- Flexibility, initiative, and a proactive attitude
