About the role
- Provide comprehensive secretarial support to medical consultants and clinical teams.
- Produce accurate and timely medical correspondence, clinic letters, reports, and documentation.
- Manage consultant diaries, appointment schedules, and administrative workflows.
- Act as a key point of contact for patients, consultants, GPs, and internal departments, delivering a professional and responsive service.
- Ensure patient records and clinical information are maintained accurately and confidentially.
- Support the efficient management of patient pathways and clinic activities.
- Respond to telephone and email enquiries in a courteous and professional manner.
- Contribute to the delivery of organisational objectives through effective administration and communication.
- Maintain organised systems and processes to support the smooth running of the department.
Skills and experience required
You will be a highly organised individual with excellent communication skills and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
Essential Criteria
- Significant previous experience in a Medical Secretarial role.
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent experience.
- Excellent customer care and communication skills with a professional, patient-focused approach.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and clinical systems.
- Proven ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- A flexible, reliable, and proactive approach to work.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Criteria
- AMSPAR qualification or other Medical Secretarial/Secretarial certification.
- Previous experience within a private healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare administration processes.
