We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Flexi-Bank Catering Assistant to support our busy catering service. This is a flexible role, ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about delivering excellent customer service.
You will play a key role in supporting food preparation, service delivery, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across our catering operations.
About us
The Benenden Flexi Bank offers you total flexibility to choose shifts that are offered to you. It is ideal for people who have other commitments in their lives, but are still able to work a reasonable number of hours each month. Alternatively, you may be looking to boost your income, without being tied to set hours each week. Your hours are not guaranteed, and fluctuate with the needs of the hospital.
About the role
- Assist with basic food preparation including chopping, portioning, assembling, and plating meals
- Serve food and beverages to customers in a friendly, efficient, and professional manner
- Set up and clear counters, service areas, and dining spaces before and after service
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils
- Carry out washing up duties using dishwashers and manual methods
- Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures, including allergen awareness and temperature checks
- Receive, unpack, and store deliveries appropriately
- Work collaboratively with team members and respond to guidance from supervisors
- Provide excellent customer service, handling basic queries and escalating where necessary
- Support catering for events, meetings, and special functions as required
Skills and experience required
We are looking for someone who is:
- Qualified to Level 2 Food Safety (or willing to complete the qualification)
- Friendly, polite, and approachable, with clear communication skills
- Experienced in working as part of a team in a busy environment
- Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
- Capable of working independently, using initiative and making decisions
- Experienced in high-volume food environments (e.g. catering, restaurant, or healthcare settings)
- Flexible and adaptable to meet changing service needs
- Resilient, with a positive attitude and calm approach under pressure
