I have a question about having a urine test

What is a urine test?

Urinalysis is a frequently performed diagnostic or screening tool. It can help detect substances or cellular material in the urine associated with different metabolic and kidney disorders.

Why would I have a urine test?

Urine tests are often one of the first steps taken to investigate, diagnose, or monitor a number of conditions.

What happens during a urine test?

You will be provided with a urine sample pot. You may be asked to provide a midstream specimen of urine, as it is possible that the initial stream may contain bacteria which could cause an inaccurate result. On some occasions you may be asked to collect all the urine you excrete over a 24 hour period.
