Surgeons from around the country attended a one day educational workshop which was held at Benenden Hospital at Benenden, near Cranbrook, Kent.

It was run by vascular surgeon Eddie Chaloner and was called How to Set up a World Class Vein Surgery Service. It was for surgeons, nurses, healthcare workers and others who work in the field of varicose vein surgery who wanted to know more about the most up to date and effective methods to treat the condition and how to organise an optimally efficient service with outstanding patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Eddie Chaloner heads up the varicose vein team at Benenden Hospital along with his fellow vascular surgeon Aaron Sweeney. They are both renowned internationally as pioneers, innovators and advocates for the minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins. Together they are at the forefront of international research and are active in training other surgeons in the latest techniques.

The training day at Benenden Hospital had 11 attendees.

It was sponsored by healthcare services company Aquilant, suppliers of interventional medical devices.

With patient consent those attending were able to watch Eddie perform surgery as he talked them through the procedure and the techniques and equipment used. During the afternoon Eddie did a presentation to the group and there was also a chance for those attending to ask questions.
