Construction works on a multi-million pound redevelopment at Benenden Hospital have been rated as “excellent” in the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

The Willmott Dixon site at the Hospital was inspected in March. Inspectors said the external appearance of the site was being maintained to “excellent standards” and the approach to safety was “excellent” too.

In all categories the Hospital was “excellent”  with the categories including care about appearance, respect for the community, protection of the environment, safety and valuing the workforce.

The inspector commented: “The site is now entering its fourth year of registration with the scheme and the external appearance of the site is being maintained to excellent standards with effective signage on the approaches and fenced/gated pedestrian safe routes leading to the site. The site is kept locked and secure.

“Community engagement activities so far have been focussed mainly on minimising the impact in the neighbourhood and fully supporting the Hospital and close neighbours. The environmental policies and procedures are displayed prominently on site with environmental targets set to encourage environmental gain as the project progresses. The approach to safety on the site is excellent.

“The workforce is provided with a caring and supportive working environment and the Hospital team provides health support on a regular basis.

“This is an excellent site.”

Willmott Dixon’s Managing Director, Roger Forsdyke commented: “We are thrilled that our site team have been recognised for their efforts. We strive for excellence in the  Considerate Constructors Scheme and our work at Benenden further supports our on-going commitment to safety, the community and environment in which we work.”

Claire Harley, Benenden Hospital’s Director of Patient Services, added: “This award reflects the hard work of Willmott Dixon and their strong focus on standards. The consideration that they give to the Hospital, it's neighbours and the environment in general has been really evident throughout the course of this project.”
