Over 100 years of excellent patient care

We have a proud history of caring for people since 1907, when the hospital was opened by the National Association for the Establishment and Maintenance of Sanatoria to treat postal workers suffering from tuberculosis.

Since then it’s been transformed into a modern, contemporary facility which delivers advanced healthcare using the latest procedures and technologies.

Our medical facilities

We’re proud of our stunning location and contemporary facilities, which have been designed around our patients’ needs. As an outpatient you’ll be welcomed to our spacious and well-equipped consulting rooms, and cared for by our friendly nursing team. As an inpatient you’ll enjoy the peace and tranquillity of your own comfortable room and be looked after by staff with the time and space to care.

Our governance

We’re committed to the quality of care of our patients and strives to continuously improve, while minimising risk and enhancing patient safety.

Infection control

We’re proud of our rigorous infection control and, with the additional hygiene measures we’ve put in place following COVID-19, you can be confident we’ve done everything we can to protect you.

Rising Mercury Society

The Rising Mercury Society provides a way for former Benenden Hospital patients to keep in touch and show their support and appreciation of the hospital. The Society currently has around 1,000 subscribing members and they each receive a newsletter twice a year, containing both updates on developments at the hospital and news of Rising Mercury activities.
