We have some exciting opportunities, both full and part time, for Senior Theatre Practitioners at Benenden Hospital.

With responsibility for implementing high standards of peri-operative care within a wider theatre team, you will be competent and skilled to assist and monitor patient care within theatres and the recovery environment. Having a patient-centred approach, you will work as part of the Theatres team, providing support and mentorship to more junior roles.

You will have a degree in Operating Department Practice or equivalent experience, and will be willing to learn new skills. With methodical skills, you will pay attention to the details to ensure you deliver the highest patient care possible.

We will consider candidates who wish for part time as well as full time hours (full time hours are 37.5 per week).

Full & Part Time Positions

We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and flexible Registered Nurse to join our Outpatient team.  The successful candidate will deliver a high standard of individual focused care to patients undergoing a variety of Outpatient consultations and procedures.

As a member of the nursing team, you will be required to have experience of medical, surgical or pre-operative assessment clinics, and possess the ambition to further develop your knowledge and skills across these diverse areas of nursing.

You may be required to act as the nurse in charge in the absence of the Sister or Senior Staff Nurses, so the successful applicant should be someone who enjoys such opportunities.

This position may also appeal to a newly qualified nurse looking to consolidate their experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity if you are looking to fully utilise your Staff Nurse experience as well as to learn more about the wide variety of Outpatient provision which would include but is not exhaustive of:

  • Carrying out pre-operative assessment clinics for patients proceeding to surgery.
  • Assisting with minor procedures
  • Supporting exercise stress tests
  • Undertaking skin patch testing

Radiographer - Full Time Fixed Term post for 1 year

 

Salary £22,128.00-£30,185.00 depending on experience.

 

Following Benenden Hospital's multi-million pound development programme, we are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Radiographer to implement high standards of radiography care for patients in our new imaging department.

As the successful candidate you will follow standard operating policies and procedures and undertake a wide range of examinations with Radiology including Theatre work, Fluoroscopy and General x-rays. There will be the opportunity to expand your skills in other modalities such as CT and MRI as and when the service requirements arise. The essential elements of the role include;

  • Act as the patient’s advocate, maintaining their dignity at all times
  • Perform high quality x-rays
  • Ensure patient information data is correctly recorded in the appropriate IT systems
  • Maintain and rotate stock levels of equipment and consumables
  • Maintain professional development particularly through the national professional body
  • Contribute to budgetary management by exercising care and economy in the ordering and use of equipment and consumables
  • Supporting activities such as undertaking administrative duties to support the department when required
  • Communicate with patients and their carers verbally and in writing as and when required
  • Communicate with other staff members and stakeholders (i.e. consultants, departments company representatives), verbally and in writing as and when required, concerning sometimes complex information, such as patient history and clinical procedures

 Skills and Experience

  • BSc Radiography or Equivalent eg DCR(R)
  • Member of an appropriate professional body with valid registration eg HCPC
  • IT skills
  • Good Communication skills
  • Organised and methodical in approach
  • Ability to progress multiple tasks simultaneously

Radiology Department Assistant – Full Time Fixed Term Post – 1 Year

Salary £16,968 - £20,845 depending on experience

Benenden Hospital’s Imaging Department is currently seeking a highly motivated Radiology Department Assist to join our team to assist in a clinical role, supporting the Radiology team in implementing high standards of radiography care for patients whilst promoting a patient focussed approach.

As the successful candidate you will be looking for a new challenge that will offer you the opportunity to learn and develop new skills. As a team player, you will be enthusiastic and flexible in your approach to work and be willing to learn and get involved. It is important you are clear and concise with your communication skills and that you portray a professional outlook at all times.

The main purpose of the role will be to assist with patients and procedures and to help maintain the smooth running of the unit. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a strongly patient-focused role and is an excellent opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge.

You will be required to:

  • Assist with the organisation of the Ultrasound workload including assisting patients with changing, chaperoning patients when required and dealing with necessary paperwork.
  • Assist the Radiographers with preparing the patients for all imaging procedures as necessary.
  • Assist with setting up procedures as required.
  • Assist in maintaining the tidiness and cleanliness of the department.
  • Help with the maintenance of stock levels in all rooms e.g. linen, consumables items, etc.
  • Collect and escort in-patients to and from the department to the wards.
  • Assist the radiographers, Administrators and other staff in the department as required.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum NVQ level 2 or 3in Health & Social Care or willingness to train
  • Good clinical skills like cannulation and phlebotomy will be an advantage, but training will be provided for the successful candidate
  • Previous experience working within Radiology is preferred but not essential
  • Experience of working with members of the public is essential

Senior Sister/ Charge Nurse- Ambulatory Care Unit

Full Time 37.5 hours

Benenden Hospital is looking to recruit a dynamic leader in the Ambulatory Care unit. The post holder will be required to provide professional technical leadership, operational management and clinical expertise to the Ambulatory Care team.   

A very exciting opportunity has become available for the senior sister within Ambulatory care to deliver an exceptional service within a patient focused environment.  The ambulatory care consists of an endoscopy suite and a procedure room for minor surgery/minor procedures

The post reports into the Service Manager for wards and ambulatory care.

Duties will include, but is not exhaustive of:

  • Providing clinical, professional and visible management of the team within the department to deliver high quality patient centred care against the ACU activity and development plans
  • Responsible for the safe day to day running of the team to deliver scheduled activity and efficiencies, collaborating closely with Clinical Leads, providing cross cover and deputising for the Theatre Manager as required
  • Responsible for delivering excellent governance, ensuring team members are legally compliant and adhering to all regulatory Care Quality Commission (CQC) requirements and clinical standards
  • To provide specialist Endoscopy and excellent clinical knowledge and support to the Service Manager, including support for planning activity and improvements to pre-procedure care
  • To ensure service provision is delivered in line with cost efficiency adhering to budgetary controls, planned activity and regulatory compliance
  • To ensure all patient areas and the ACU environment is safe, fit for purpose and effectively maintained
  • To act as a role model for staff and patient advocate, ensuring a positive patient experience for all
  • To maintain own clinical competency

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in endoscopy and will be able to evidence their ability to successful manage an endoscopy unit and its staff. They will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and will evidence a strong patient-centred approach. The successful candidate will also have strong planning and prioritising skills and will be well organised.
