Nurse Specialist – Breast Care

Working as part of the surgical team, under the direction of Consultant Surgeons, the Nurse Specialist will participate in all aspects of pre and post-operative care of surgical patients. Your aim will be to provide an efficient and effective personalised patient care throughout the surgical pathway.


Your main responsibilities will be as follows:


• To work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and effectively deliver an expert nursing service within the specialist area
• To manage a caseload of patients and ensure that patients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical and social support.
• To assist in the development of evidence based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines, and to establish clear lines of communication within the specialty team to ensure cohesive multidisciplinary management of patients.
• The post holder will link with relevant hospital teams to ensure the best possible service for patients and to support the growth and expansion of service.  These include, but are not limited to : Private patient appointments, Theatre Bookings, Outpatients Clinic, Theatre, Wards, Imaging, Medical Secretariat and Marketing
• To act as a role model for staff and act as patient advocate, ensuring a positive patient experience
• To provide specialist knowledge and support, including planning activity and patient care
• To work within the governance framework and adhere to national / local regulatory requirements and clinical standards
• To maintain own clinical competency
• To act as an ambassador of the service and participate in service growth and expansion

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:


• Registered Nurse or equivalent Operating Department Practitioner Level 3 qualification with supporting evidence of validation
• Healthcare degree or equivalent that includes the surgical care practitioner modules
• Evidence of continuing education and development
• Significant surgical practitioner experience
• ILS training

Benenden Hospital is looking for an experienced Ultra Sonographer with significant relevant experience to join their diagnostics team. This role reports into the Imaging lead

The Ultra Sonographer will be accountable for the safe day to day running of the Ultrasonography Service within the Hospital; planning and implementing high standards of care for patients whilst following hospital guidelines and protocols. 

We are looking for someone who will promote a patient focussed approach to care; ensuring patient care areas are safe and fit for purpose. They will be required to undertake a range of work procedures using complex or sensitive information which will require the use of initiative and analysis and will act as the patients advocate, maintaining their dignity at all times.

The post holder will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and will demonstrate a strong patient–centred approach in everything that they do. They will be methodical and logical in their approach particular paying attention to detail. The post holder will also be able to demonstrate their strong problem solving skills and emotional intelligence.

Patient Appointment Advisor

Full Time 37.5 Hours

Fixed Term 10 Month Contract

Salary £18,500

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Patient Appointment Advisor to join our friendly and professional team at Benenden Hospital on a 10 month fixed term contract.  Reporting to the Patient Appointment Team Leader, the key responsibilities of the role are as below, although this list is not exhaustive:

  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience to all of our patients who contact the hospital via telephone or email, providing guidance and advice regarding appointments, payment or services.
  • Maintain a good knowledge of available patient services, booking and billing processes to ensure patient enquiries are dealt with effectively
  • Exchange information with patients, relatives and staff on a variety of matters and procedures
  • Undertake a wide range of work procedures using complex or sensitive information which will require the use of initiative.
  • Being the first point of contact for our patients, the postholder will ultimately deal with patients by telephone, booking appointments using the hospital’s Patient Administration System

Patient Appointments is a very busy department and is often the first experience our customers have of the hospital.  We are therefore looking for somebody who can plan and prioritise their work whilst also providing a first class customer service.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their effective verbal and written skills and will be able to evidence their ability to prioritise and show initiative.

A confident and friendly manner is an important requisite as you will be dealing with Patients, GP Surgeries, Clinicians and staff on a daily basis. You should therefore have excellent  communication skills along with an excellent telephone manner.  You will have the opportunity to work on your own as well as being part of a friendly and welcoming team.

Previous experience of working in a customer focused role is essential and experience of working in a health care environment including booking appointments is desirable.

The Staff Nurse will be expected to provide high standards of clinical care including delivering health promotion and discharge advice for patients. They will undertake a wide range of work procedures using complex or sensitive information.

The role will require the post holder to plan and implement the care of patients from admission through to discharge by assessing and monitoring them prior and after surgery. Other duties will include but is not extensive of

  • Booking tests
  • Positioning and moving patients

  • Breath tests
  • The ability to interpret results and raise awareness of abnormal results.

Medical Secretary

Salary to £23,000pa

Due to growth in our services, we now require a Medical Secretary to join our team. Patient support is key to our ethos, and we require someone who has effective communication skills, fast accurate audio typing skills and a methodical approach to their work. Strong prioritisation skills and the ability to demonstrate team working is essential.

Previous experience as a medical secretary would be an advantage, and you would need some understanding of medical procedures and practices. Relevant professional qualifications such as AMSPAR, Pitmans and/ or RSA are desirable.

Medical Administrator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Bank Medical Administrator to join our friendly team of Medical Secretaries and Administrators at Benenden Hospital. Following a multi million pound upgrade and a CQC rating of Outstanding, there has never been a better time to join our team.

The role reports to the Team Leader of the Medical Secretariat sitting within the Hospital’s Patient Administration Team, working in close liaison with Patient Appointments and Health Records Administration. The main responsibilities of the role will be to undertake administration and secretarial duties supporting the team of Secretaries. This covers a wide range of medical and surgical specialities and adhering to speciality guidelines

It is essential that the successful applicant has excellent typing skills and secretarial/administrative experience, preferably in a clinical setting, as well as excellent IT skills with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office. IT Apprentice – Infrastructure or Applications Support

£12,000 to £14,000 Staged

This position will be within our IT Team, and give the Apprentice an excellent opportunity to start their career in IT. We have a number of developments planned over the next two years, and you would be given the opportunity to really grow your IT skills in a busy hospital.


This is a fixed two year term and during this time you would study for a formal IT apprenticeship qualification , such as QA Junior Infrastructure Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme.


Your main responsibilities would include:


• Provide 1st line IT technical support to telephone requests and emails from users
• Initial triage and investigation of IT support incidents
• Liaison with 2nd line support teams
• Management of incident tickets logged with 3rd party suppliers
• User account administration
• Maintenance, set up and configuration of laptops, mobile devices and other IT kit
