Roy was appointed as an independent member of the Board of Governors in August 2012. He is a senior executive with extensive experience gained in local government and the health service; also in management consultancy, the transport sector and financial services.
Roy was a management consultant with an international accountancy firm, Coopers & Lybrand, before moving to the NHS. There he held director positions at hospital, health authority and regional levels for 12 years; most recently as an executive director at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, from 1991 to 1998. He was then Chief Executive of Hastings Borough Council for 14 years, and heavily involved in the town’s regeneration programme, until deciding to set up his own consultancy business in April 2012. He is now a managing consultant with clients including the Financial Ombudsman Service, for whom he is a fee-paid senior ombudsman.
Roy is an economist, transport planner and manager by training. He is married and lives in East Sussex.
