Having studied for a degree in Animal Sciences at Wye College, near Ashford, (which was part of London University at the time) and subsequently worked as a Nutrition Chemist for the Ministry of Agriculture, I made a very sharp correction to my career path when I joined Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) as a trainee Charted Accountant in 1989.
I spent a very enjoyable 12 years with PwC, where I had the opportunity to work throughout the UK, as well as 2 years in Australia and assignments in Finland and the US, across a tremendous variety of private companies and public sector organisations.
In 2001 I left PwC to become Financial Controller at Neopost (now known as Quadient). Who are Neopost I hear you ask? Well at the time they were predominantly a supplier of franking machines. After 5 years I was promoted to Finance Director – a role I performed for the next 13 years! During that time the business evolved significantly, with particular focus on software solutions for business process automation, and I was able to get involved in many projects across the business. Most recently managing the move of the Head Office and 250 staff from Romford in Essex (where they had been for almost 100 years) to the Olympic Park in Stratford.
My first experiences of Benenden were as a teenager some 40 years ago, visiting my grandparents who were patients here. So it is fascinating to now be working here as Finance Director all this time later.
Outside of work I am married with 2 teenage children, 2 miniature schnauzers and a cat. We all love to travel as much as we can (apart from the dogs and cat!).
