Introductory
The course is designed for Gynaecologists with some experience in laparoscopic surgery (Consultant, Senior Registrar or post MRCOG Registrar). It will provide the attendant with a wide view of operative laparoscopy, by applying the syllabus of the RCOG minimum invasive surgery sub-committee, level 3.
The course will provide theoretical and practical instruction principles of operative laparoscopy, adnexal surgery, adhesiolysis, salpingo- oophorectomy and laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy, and also training in using electrosurgery and the use of different laparoscopic equipment including suturing, clamping, stapling and use of endoloops, and use of Ligasure™ Vessel Sealing device.
The participants must have some experience inoperative laparoscopy in order to achieve the objectives of this course.
At the end of this course every participant will be assessed by the RCOG preceptor and a full report will be sent to the College for approval.
Following the course one of the training and proctorship might be arranged.
