  • Anal Sphincterotomy for Anal Fissure
    Description
An anal fissure is a small tear in the skin around the opening of your anus. An anal sphincterotomy involves surgically making a cut in the anal sphincter muscle (the ring-like muscle that opens and closes the anus). This means that you will strain less when going to the toilet and put less pressure on the fissure, giving it time to heal.
  • Ankle Arthroscopy
    Description
This procedure uses an instrument called an arthroscope which enables the surgeon to have a closer look inside your ankle. Some injuries or diseases of the ankle joint can be treated in this way by keyhole techniques.
  • Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction
    Description
The ACL or Anterior Cruciate Ligament is one of the strong ligaments in the knee that gives stability. Sporting injuries to the knee cause the ligament to rupture requiring surgery to reconstruct it.
  • Arthrodesis of Big Toe

During the operation the joint above the big toe is resected - which means a small plate is applied on top of the joint to keep the toe in the right position while the bones heal.
  • Arthroscopic Acromio Clavicular Joint Resection
    Description
Arthroscopy is a technique where specially-designed thin instruments are introduced into joints which removes the need for performing open surgery. This is a resection procedure where the last half inch of the clavicle (collar bone) is removed.
  • Arthroscopic Subacromial Decompression (SAD)
    Description
Arthroscopy is a technique where specially-designed thin instruments are introduced into joints which removes the need to perform open surgery. During this procedure the shoulder joint and the cavity above the shoulder joint will be inspected and treated.
  • Bankart Procedure
    Description
This is a procedure for shoulder instability where the torn labrum (outer rim of the joint), ligaments and capsule are re-attached back to the socket they were torn from. This is achieved by roughening the edges and stitching the tissue back to the bone and fixating the stitches with small anchors/screws.
  • Bartholin's Glands
    Description
The Bartholin's glands are a pair of pea-sized glands found just inside the opening of the vagina. They secrete a fluid which acts as a lubricant during sexual intercourse. The glands have tiny tubes and ducts, which can become blocked, causing the gland to be full of mucous and become a cyst.
