TheatreTheatre

We have three operating theatres (with anaesthetic rooms) and a procedure room. 
 All have twenty five changes of filtered air per hour, equipped with modern microscopes, laparoscopic instruments and harmonic scalpel.

Two operating theatres are fitted with laminar flow clean air system and digital equipment - designed to create the optimal operating environment for surgeon and staff through integrated technology, which connects surgeons and other medical professionals with the information that they need to the benefit of our patients.

The recovery area is equipped with six bays, one of which is dedicated to paediatrics.

Surgery takes place from 08.00 to 19.00 Monday to Friday, organised in five hour sessions.


EndoscopyEndoscopy

We also have two endoscopy rooms, equipped for upper gastro-intestinal investigations, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy and cystoscopy.  The endoscopy recovery room has five bays.  There is a separate suite for gynaecology (colposcopy, hysteroscopy).


Jubliee ClinicJubilee Clinic

The Jubilee Clinic is used for surgical consultations.  With seven consulting rooms, most of which have adjoining examination rooms, there are also:

  • Phlebotomy
  • Sluice
  • Minor operations 
  • Endoscopy facilities.

 

 

 


Lister Medical Centre Waiting RoomLister Medical Centre

Lister Medical Centre is a brand new diagnostic and day-case treatment centre for medical specialties.  Apart from consulting suites, there are dermatology treatment and cardiology and respiratory testing facilities.



Day Surgery UnitDay Surgery Unit

The dedicated day surgery unit now cares for over half the surgical cases, with the aim of making patients' visits to hospital as convenient, safe and fuss-free as possible.  The unit has eighteen "beds", and is open from 07:00 to 22:00 Monday to Friday.



Inpatient WardInpatient ward

The inpatient ward has forty three beds, mostly organised in six bed bays.   It has four single rooms, which can also be used for isolation.  The high dependency unit of four beds is equipped at level 2/3, with nurses able to care at up to level 3 when required.


OsheaChildren's ward

The children's service was rated by the Royal College of Surgeons in 2004 as "excellent".  With twelve rooms, where a parent can stay with a child overnight, O'Shea Ward also has a play room.  Children as young as six months can be treated.  The nursing team includes six paediatrically-qualified staff, while one of the two paediatric anaesthetists is resident on-site whenever children stay overnight.


X-rayDiagnostic Imaging

The recently refurbished Imaging Department has two X-ray suites, and two ultrasound units.  CT and MRI scans are available via a visiting mobile service.



Peek Lodge LoungeOn-Site Hotel

Peek Lodge |is the on-site accommodation lodge, available to members of the Society, to patients before or after their hospital appointment, and to those visiting or accompanying patients.

 



Transport ServiceTransport

The hospital runs a mini-bus| service to/from Headcorn station (trains to London) and to/from local towns such as Tenterden.
