Benenden Hospital has recently received the good news that its ‘Return to Practice’ program has been validated by the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
The Return to Practice program is for trained nurses who have been away from clinical practice for a period of five or more years and want to return to work. The Hospital links with Canterbury Christchurch University with most of the course run on site, whilst practice placements are found for participants in surrounding hospitals as well as at Benenden Hospital. Carol March (Clinical Development Facilitator) and the Learning & Development team at the Hospital have been instrumental in developing the course to the high standard that was recognized by the NMC.
Apart from Greenwich University, this is the only course of its kind run in Kent and the Hospital provides twenty places for nurses who wish to return to work after prolonged absence from the profession.
Carrie Jackson, head of Nursing and Applied Clinical Studies at Canterbury Christchurch University said: “A big congratulations to Carol March and her team -the team is fantastic and the program highly regarded by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.”
Gill Landon, HR & Development Director said: “This is fantastic news for the Hospital and shows that we are a proactive promoter of nursing development and excellence – this reflects our ethos as a Hospital with the space and time to care.”
