Mr. Simon Edmonds
Gynaecology

Appointment:
Full Time Consultant

Special Interest: General gynaecology and Keyhole surgery.  Endometriosis and chronic pain.  Vaginal/pelvic floor surgery.

Common procedures/treatments: Laparoscopic treatment of endometriosis. Laparoscopic Hysterectomy. Pelvic floor repair. Endometrial ablation.

Consultant outline: Following medical training at St Thomas Hospital in London, I completed the Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh exams in 1999 and then Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists exams in 2001. I have research and surgical experience in endometriosis and chronic pain, giving international lectures in Europe and Australia. I spent my first year as a consultant in New Zealand in 2004, building a laparascopic and hysteroscopic treatment service in South Auckland.

In conjunction with my colleagues at Benenden I am involved in the education of junior doctors and other consultants and in particular the use of new techniques for treating heavy periods and vaginal prolapse. My goal is to continue to provide a high quality, evidence based service at this hospital for women with gynaecological problems.
