 Benenden Centenary 1907-2007

Event Report

Attended by past and current members of staff and friends of the hospital, St Margaret's Church was packed for the service on 2nd May.  Conducted by Canon Christopher Smith, Chaplain with homily by Father Nick Leggett, member of the Board of Governors and an intercession led by Father John Lawrence, RC Chaplain, the service was an appropriate way to record, celebrate and remember our past and look to the future.  Staff Nurse Liz Parker and The Hon Mrs Jennifer Pilbeam undertook readings from the Hospital's Bible that was dedicated by the Queen Mother during a visit to the hospital in 1961.  The choir of past and present staff was led by former Consultant Physician, Dr Nick Hudd and the walls echoed wonderful praise and thanksgiving for such a prestigious moment in time for the hospital.

Around 60 people enjoyed a tea party after the service which was a wonderful way for past and present colleagues to mix together and catch up on recent news.  It was a very special day for all assembled and join together in one group to applaud what the hospital has been and will become in the future.
