Hospital staff were rewarded for their achievements and loyal service at an annual prize-giving ceremony.
The awards afternoon at benenden hospital was attended by staff and guests and included the presentation of the Lord Plant Memorial Trust travelling fellowship awards where up to £3,000 is given to staff to develop skills in their field of work.
One of these went to the Hospital’s Physiotherapy Manager Shinu Varghese who plans to visit the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, known for innovative and effective treatment methods. Another was presented to Consultant Gastroenterologist Philip Hardo who would like to establish a Patient Education Resource Centre at benenden hospital. Dr Hardo is to travel to Washington and the Mayo Clinic, Florida, to see leading centres there and will also attend a patient and family care conference while in the States.
The awards were presented by Nerys Brick, deputy pathway director of adult nursing at Canterbury Christ Church University.
The event was opened by Nick Leggett, chairman of the Board of Governors and ended with a speech by the benenden healthcare Society’s chief executive Ken Hesketh.
