What treatment is available privately?
All the services available| to members of Benenden are available to others on a private basis. This covers: consultations with a specialist, diagnostic tests, and surgery.
How much will it cost, and how can I pay?
Because Benenden is not-for-profit, we usually offer treatment at lower cost than the private sector. For common surgical procedures, we can offer fixed prices with no extras, over the phone.
If you are paying your own bills, we will ask you to settle bills at the time of consultation or treatment, by cheque (requires 4 working days for clearance), credit card or cash.
Will my private medical insurance cover it?
Benenden has arrangements with most major private medical insurers. Please check with your insurer that your policy covers the treatment you need, and has no exclusions that might prevent you from coming to Benenden.
We can usually invoice your insurer directly, meaning that you do not need to pay us and then reclaim the fees.
Discount if you become a member
If you are eligible to join |Benenden Healthcare Society, or have just joined but can as yet not access your benefits, we will discount hospital fees by 15%. Membership costs only £1.25 per week.
GP referral
We will normally need a referral letter from your GP, to be received by the time you attend outpatient clinic. It ensures that the specialist treating you is aware of your medical history.
